Consider Him who endured from sinners, such hostility against Himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
– Hebrews 12:3-4
This is solid perspective.
I really am trying to meditate on it right now, and am dedicated to memorizing Chapter 12. The chapter begins by addressing the idea that we must be an example to the aura of witnesses around us, by laying aside the encumbrances and “sin that so easily entangles us” (verse 1).
I enjoy this because it’s comforting for me, in moments of choice, to know that my purpose to glorify Christ depends on my faith in Him to help me repent from my sin and turn toward Him for any possible righteousness for others to see Him in me.
It’s amazing to think about the struggle that Christ had, to the point where His flesh was absolutely ravaged in the worst way known to man, but was completely righteous and divine. Yet he sacrificed His flesh for us, so that we could be forgiven by Him and repent in Him, on our way to salvation with Him.
All these things – ONLY through Him.
